Religion and ethics

NSW public schools offer special religious education and special education in ethics, delivered by approved providers wherever available.

During enrolment, you can choose a special religious education option for your child from the school’s available approved providers. You can withdraw your child from special religious education by selecting alternative meaningful activities, or special education in ethics if it’s available.

You can update your preference by writing to the school or through the online form available at participating schools.

At Narrabri High School, SRE is delivered to Year 7 and 8 students over 4 lessons in a 4-5 week period over the course of the year. Students may also participate in seminars at various times during the year.

For students enrolling for the year 2021 and beyond parents/carers will be given the SRE participation letter to complete and return. After the initial enrolment, notification of changes to a child's enrolment in SRE should be given to the front office in writing.

The following SRE classes are offered at Narrabri High School:

Christian SRE is provided by name of approved provider (New Life Christian Fellowship Narrabri, Uniting Church Narrabri, Australian Christian Churches, International Network of Churches, Presbyterian Church of Australia in the State of NSW, Anglican Diocese of Australia, Catholic Church Diocese of Armidale). During the time that SRE classes are being held, students not attending will be located in a separate space and will participate in meaningful activities such as reading, private study or completing homework.
