Term 3

Term 3 Week 3

Clontarf

Week three of term three. What a week it's been with all this water coming down stream. It's made a lot of disruptions this week with road closures and even the school closing for one day. Unfortunately, due to the weather and circumstances outside our control we missed out on attending the Clontarf Ross Kelly Cup Rugby League Carnival on the Central Coast and the Winter Warrior Obstacle Course at Lake Keepit. Very unfortunate timing, but both these events will be running next year and your Clontarf staff are always working hard to ensure we get there. Fingers crossed for better weather.

That all being said we still had a fun week with the boys who could make it to school. Recycling cans and bottles from the school, the academy has now raised approximately $75 for our end of year party. On the way back from the recycling centre we stopped by the banks of the creek to take photos of how much water was passing through and all the debris that it brought with it.  On site we did our best to stay dry and played games of pressure and 2 v 2 basketball.

Term 3 Week2

Clontarf

Tuesday 29th August, Narrabri Clontarf stroll through the Pilliga National Park to join the Executives of Whitehaven in our Cultural Immersion Day. Boys proudly showed off their dancing skills long the Dandry Creek after dancing, couple of boys showed off a bit more with a few back flips in the sandy creek bed. The boys then got a warm serving of curried chicken and beef for lunch. The boys got to connect with their country and learn about how important our culture and land is to aboriginal people.

Wednesday morning training was raining and cold so the boys stayed warm inside with a pool comp, served up with a nice hot breakfast of bacon and eggs.

On Thursday five of our boys got to proudly show their cultural dances in front of approximately 100 principals from around the region for a Principals conference held in our school hall. The boys then had a relaxed afternoon in watching the first half of Happy Gilmore 2 with popcorn, we will be watching the second half on Thursday week 3.

Friday morning training resulted in staying indoors again due to mother nature not being so nice to us. We played a few different games.

Term 3 Week 1

Clontarf

To kick start Term 3 a group of Narrabri Clontarf members went around town to hand deliver copies of our Term 2 newsletter to local supporters and partners.  The boys were on the camera and got some interesting pics. Great to see plenty of smiles from all the people we bumped into around the town. With so much rain around we played a few different games on the basketball courts. Was a lot of fun playing kick tennis, touch football and Pac-Man tips.

Wednesday night we got together with a number of our Year 10 boys and their families to discuss the importance of making the right decisions around school subject selections. We told the boys it was time to start thinking about what they'd like to do after school. If they have any idea what they want to do, we can help them to choose the right subjects to be successful in achieving their goals. Both school and Clontarf staff are so proud of these young men and what they are doing.
