North West Science and Engineering Challenge

Back-to-Back Win for Narrabri High School at the North West Science & Engineering Challenge.

On Thursday June 6, Narrabri High School students from Year 9 & 10 excelled at the North West Science & Engineering Challenge, being announced overall winners for the second year in a row!

Showcasing their skills in various STEM activities, our students competed against other high schools from the district, St Marys Gunnedah, Coonabarabran High School, St Philomena’s Moree, and Moree Secondary Collage to claim victory.

The NHS team constructed the best bridge of the day, holding 1.9kg, designed a wind turbine that spun at 140RPM, crafted a balsa-wood glider that flew a record 15.6m, and built an earthquake-proof tower holding 6 weights. Their teamwork and determination led them to victory, winning the local competition for the second year in a row against the four other schools. It was a fantastic day filled with fun, learning, and remarkable achievements!

Especially, a special shoutout to Stella Laws and Jasmine Weekes who also gave up their position to participate in the event for this year on the high school day to assist with volunteering again. The support of all these students allowed for the successful organisation of the event on all three days.
