Last term, our Year 12 PDHPE students participated in a valuable learning experience with a visit to PhysX Rehab in Sydney. Accompanied by Miss Wright and Mr Russell, the students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of key syllabus areas, including Sports Medicine and Core 2: Factors Affecting Performance, through a range of practical, hands-on activities.
Throughout the day, students engaged in:
- Taping and bandaging techniques commonly used in injury prevention and management
- Force plate analysis to measure power and biomechanics
- Speed and VO2max testing to assess aerobic performance
- Recovery strategies, including the use of ice baths
This excursion allowed students to see the direct application of classroom theory in a professional sports science and rehabilitation setting. It also provided insights into potential career pathways in the fields of health, sport, and exercise science.
